Italian-American mezzo-soprano Ginger Costa-Jackson is internationally celebrated for her radiant lyric mezzo, magnetic stage presence, and charismatic portrayals of opera’s most iconic roles. A winner of the Loren L. Zachary National Vocal Competition and a Samling Scholar, she honed her craft as part of the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program.
Her career took flight with Carmen — a role she has sung to acclaim at major houses across Europe, Asia, and North America, including English National Opera, San Francisco Opera, Tokyo’s New National Theatre, and Staatsoper Hamburg. Her 2015 Rosina at the Metropolitan Opera was praised as “vibrant and commanding” (Opera News), while The Times (UK) called her Carmen “intelligent, dynamic, and deliciously self-assured.”
Equally at home in French, Italian, and English repertoire, Costa-Jackson has distinguished herself as Charlotte (Werther), Angelina (La Cenerentola), Dorabella (Così fan tutte), and Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), with recent appearances at Covent Garden, Paris Opera, and La Monnaie. She has also performed with Gran Teatre del Liceu, Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, and the Metropolitan Opera.
A proud member of the Costa-Jackson trio of opera-singing sisters, Ginger performed Carmen alongside Marina and Miriam at Florida Grand Opera (2025), following their acclaimed joint concert at Seattle Opera.
In 2024/25, she returns to the role of Carmen in Hamburg, Shenzhen, and Miami, and will debut Rosina at Grange Park Opera in 2026.
